What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that the sites you visit send and record on your computer or mobile device, which are then retransmitted to the same sites on your next visit. Thanks to cookies, a site remembers the user's actions and preferences (such as, for example, login data, chosen language, font size, other display settings, etc.) so that they do not have to be indicated again when the user returns to visit the site or navigates from one page to another. Cookies, therefore, are used to perform computer authentication, session monitoring and storage of information relating to the browsing preferences of users who access a site and may also contain a unique identification code that allows you to keep track of the user's navigation within the site itself for statistical or advertising purposes. Some operations could not be carried out without the use of cookies, which in some cases are therefore technically necessary for the site to function itself.

While browsing a site, the user may also receive cookies on his computer or mobile device from sites or web servers other than the one he is visiting (so-called "third-party" cookies , it being understood that in this case the possibility of identifying the User through their use is precluded). The various types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions, may remain on the user's computer or mobile device for different periods of time: for example, the so-called session cookie is automatically deleted when the browser is closed while the so-called persistent cookie remains on the user's device until a predetermined expiry date.

According to current legislation in Italy, the user's express consent is not always required for the use of cookies . In particular, consent is not required for so-called "technical cookies ", i.e. those used for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, these cookies are essential for the operation of the site or necessary to perform activities requested by the user.

Among the technical cookies , which do not require express consent for their use, the Italian Data Protection Authority also includes:

  • "analytics cookies" used directly by the site manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself or by third parties in aggregate and anonymized form;
  • navigation or session cookies (to authenticate);
  • functionality cookies , which allow the user to browse according to a series of selected criteria (e.g., language, etc.) in order to improve the service provided to the user.

Cookies used by the Website

The  Website uses technical cookies (falling into the category of "first party cookies"), anonymized third-party analytical cookies and does not use cookies that require the consent of the user of the Website ("User").

Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication on an electronic communications network or to transmit to the supplier information strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user.

They are normally installed when accessing the website directly by the owner or manager of the website.

They can be divided into:

  • Navigation or session cookies: they guarantee normal navigation and use of the website; they are, in fact, necessary for the proper functioning of the same.
  • Analytical cookies : assimilated to technical cookies when used directly by the website manager or by third parties to collect aggregate information on the number of users and how they visit the same, in order to improve the performance of the site. This category includes cookies set by the Google Analytics technological solution that collect information on the use of the site by visitors in an anonymized form.
  • Functionality cookies : they allow the user to browse according to a series of selected criteria (e.g., language, etc.) in order to improve the service provided to the user.
